Madrona Marsh is the last remaining vernal marsh (wet in spring, usually dry in fall) in the LA basin. The
City of Torrance and the Friends of Madrona Marsh (FOMM) are restoring the marsh and have built a
beautiful nature center directly across the street from the marsh. Join the group effort pulling out weeds,
trash and old pipe, plant new native vegetation and work as FOMM docents (2 credits per hour). Extra credit
activities are available doing research and creating displays.
The Madrona Marsh Nature Center is located at 3201 Plaza Del Amo, just east of Madrona Avenue, near
the Del Amo Mall. Call Shirley Turner at 326-3840 for information.
